Play Ball !! (Naissa)

Our kids had conflicting ball games again today. Isaac started out at 10:30. Naissa and Zack both had 11am games but on opposite sides of the campus. Last week I went to the boys games so this week I went to Naissa's. She did great! And she looked great with her "Funky Cherry" hair!

Jim and I don't consider ourselves traditionalist. We experience something similar to an allergic reaction when we try to "fit" in and be like everyone else. It's taken me years to accept that. I want to "fit" in just enough to "feel" like I'm "normal" but I rarely do. Jim has had more luck with that...Me? I have found that my "allergies" have gotten worse as I get older!
So being that we are not like MOST, we decided since we've been married for 16 1/2 years it was time to get our tattoo wedding bands. Nothing fancy, just a simple tattoo in place of our now mismatched wedding rings. (My original wedding band was stolen along with a lot of my other jewelry and my all time favorite clogs!!) (yes, I grieved! I've never been able to find a pair of shoes so great!) Jim's wedding band had to be cut off! Ha!
Our hands look OLD.
The addiction is official.
Got Ink?

flames of fire (and more)

Naissa has been asking to get her ears pierced for several months now, so I finally took her to get them pierced. She picked out the earrings she wanted and started to climb up in the chair when she all of a sudden changed her mind. Not only did she change her mind and decide she didn't want her ears pierced but she decided to let everyone in the mall know it too. As she belted out "No Mommy, I don't want my ears pierced! I just wanna go home! No Mommy" I tensed up and tried to hold my tongue. But apparently self control is one of those things I am lacking so I sternly whispered in her ear, "Be quiet or I'll give you something to holler about". That didn't work, she only got louder. Her siblings began trying to bribe and manipulate her to just get her ears pierced so we could get out of there, but that didn't work either. It wasn't as easy as slipping off the chair and walking out, Naissa had grabbed hold of her ears with both hands and could not hear any of us over her increasing cries. It was also one of those "TALL" chairs....you know the ones where us "NOT TALLS" sit there with our feet dangling because the floor is a foot and a half down and to slide off could cause much pain in the feet...like when we were kids and we would swing really really high and then jump off the swing and when we landed on the ground our feet would hurt like they'd been hit with a metal pole!
Anyway, there was no way Naissa was going to get her ears pierced, so I meanly told her that I would not be bringing her back when she changed her mind, she had embarrassed me and I wouldn't be able to show my face around there at least until Christmas time! That only made her cry more...which only ticked me off more. Thank God Jade was there. She scooped up Naissa (who still wouldn't walk or be quiet) and carried her to the car. As we were walking, Isaac slipped his little hand in mine and I relaxed....a little.
We then went to Target to get a couple essentials and while we were there Naissa began to ask for popcorn. I told her no because we were going to go home and eat dinner. She then cried (and I tensed up) and she said, "I'll get my ears pierced, I promise I will" to which I wrongly replied, "Hell No I ain't taking you back there, your dad will have to take you but after he hears about your behavior he won't wanna take you either!" And there was more crying.
I wish I had thought about pushing the pause button today. Mean words spoken out of frustration and anger. I could kick myself for withholding compassion.
I was reminded of Nicole Johnson who speaks with Women of Faith. She talked about the verses in James, about the tongue. A large forest can be set on fire by a small flame. Our tongues can be like that small flame and our words can burn pretty badly. I am an arsonist, I have started fires in my own home with my tongue...Nicole said in one of her dramas....I can relate....thoughtless...careless....angry...WORDS. Leaving my children as burn victims. But Nicole also shared that JESUS is the ultimate fire fighter!
I wish that I had a better memory...that I had taken notes...I didn't realize that she was talking about ME at the time...so I listened and I watched but it just didn't sink in...until now.
This is my JOY! Ain't she a beauty?!!
Let me just say that FORGIVENESS IS SWEET!
I don't have too many "things" that mean more to me then the pictures we had drawn of the kids at Sea World. We paid extra for them to be framed and not just sent home with a rubber band around them. I love them. I have not decorated in anything but colored plastic for many years with the exception of a few holidays and the fireplace! Above the mantle is where we have hung the portraits of the kids and on the mantle is where I keep a few precious "breakables" that have been given to me...mostly from the kids. Just about every where else has kid stuff. We have a No throwing balls in the house rule but I guess I should have added other things to the rule. Things like books...don't throw books at the pictures above the mantle!! But since I didn't say it, it happened! Isaac threw a book, shaped like a hammer, and hit Naissa's picture and it fell and the glass shattered everywhere! The picture survived with only a minor scratch and the frame was fine too, just not the glass. I scooped up as much glass as I could into a pile but didn't want to just throw all the glass in the regular trash bag and have it poking through and all so I went to find some way of disposing the glass. While I was looking, Isaac proudly brought me a bowl of glass pieces. I was not thrilled because I had told him to stay away from the broken glass. I was also NOT thrilled when I realized that the bowl the glass was in USED to be filled with popcorn but now it was filled with glass! I later found the popcorn (picture below a few)
This is where I found the popcorn dumped...in the bathroom sink...where Zack had dumped the remainder of his koosh ball!!
While my "good" camera wasn't working due to the battery being dead and the charger still being MIA, I used the old camera for a couple of things. When I went to add the pictures to my computer there were over 20 pictures on there that I did NOT take. It wasn't hard to figure out who took them!

She managed to catch her brother sitting in the turtle pool with his clothes on and a shovel! Busted!!

Naissa and Isaac have been watching that Disney movie, "Jump In" and have been playing "Double Dutch" all week long! It's cute until they holler at me to Jump In!!

This is my DUNG BUDDY.

Hi-Yah! Cool Hair!

Zack had Tae Kwon Do yesterday, but only wanted to stay for one hour so Isaac and I drove him and went in to watch. I tried to get a good picture but I was behind the glass and there was a glare so this is all I got. Found out that pre-testing for the next belt is the same night as the carnival, so he scheduled a private test the next Friday which probably means the testing day would be on that Saturday. It wouldn't be so bad except that Jim will be a single dad those two days, while I am going to see Trace Adkins with my cousin Lorna somewhere in like Clearlake...6 hours away!! Jade is going to Disneyland with the music department at school on that Friday. She has to be at school at like 5am and gets picked up at like 3:30-4:40am Saturday morning!! FUN!! (just not for the parents) On Saturday Jim has to be at 3 baseball/t-ball games on 3 different fields all overlapping in time!! I'm hoping that a grandparent or uncle might be able to go and help him...because I will be 6 hours away at a Trace Adkins concert!!
Isn't he such a cute purple belt?

Last year Jade and I colored our hair this great color...."Chilled Plum" It gave our hair a touch of purple! It was the kind that washes out after 8-10 washes but lasted a lot longer. We haven't been able to find it. It seems that shades of Red are the "IN" colors. So we went to the 99 cent store, looking for a Red bowl for the kitchen and we found the same brand of hair color but no "Chilled Plum" so instead we bought "Funky Cherry" and Jade did her hair a couple days ago. She liked it so I went back and bought a couple more, after all they're only a buck! Yesterday Naissa kept asking for me to do her hair like Jade....so I did!! I did mine too! You don't really get the full effect with this picture. In the sunlight it's very "FUNKY"!!

Minnie Pearl just ATE a Rubber Band!! I'm sure that's not a good thing. Do ya think it'll go straight through? Hmmm?! No time to worry it's Early Release today and I've got less time to get Naissa out the door. I'm so glad the weather has changed today! (at least this morning ) I'm not ready for Summer Hot weather.

40 years

Sunday was my in-laws 40th anniversary! We celebrated by surprising them at Tim and Tracy's. I think they were surprised. Tim BBQ'd and I had my first apple and chicken/turkey hot dog and it was good. We enjoyed hanging out, talking and especially playing baseball with the family. Zack brought his skateboard and had fun on their ramp, but I think he had the most fun playing basketball and baseball with his Uncles Tim and Rich.
Naissa and Grandpa Big Jim

Larissa likes to make silly faces whenever I have the camera!
Tim pitched so fast you couldn't even see his hand!
Isaac got upset when he was told to try a certain bat. So he dropped the bat and his head.
Isaac wanted to use "THAT BAT"
Reed and I played a version of Peek-a-Boo behind opposite sides of a tree and let out many giggles when caught!

BASEBALL etc...

We had a fun weekend filled with lots and lots of baseball! Saturday Zack, Naissa and Isaac played. I watched Zack and Isaac play while Jim took Naissa across campus to her game. It's like this every week. Bummer! I got some pictures of Zack and Isaac playing. Isaac was so excited when Uncle Richie got there. He wanted to show Richie how he could "Slide"! When Isaac didn't have the ball in his hand, he was holding up his baseball pants! (because we forgot his belt!) I can't help but brag just a little because he loves baseball so much. He really is one of the best kids out there and could hold his own on Naissa's team too. (all the teams are co-ed) He can slam the ball 2-3times as far as where the kids stand around with their parents. They hit off a tee which is perfect for Isaac because that's all he does when we go to my parent's house. He plays baseball whether or not anyone else will almost the entire time! He hits it, chases it, hits it, chases it over and over! He's such a cutie! (and yes, I am his mama!!)

Zack hasn't played ball for a couple years, mainly because he had a big jerk for a coach in the Clovis League who belittled and yelled at the kids constantly. He decided to give this league a try, just so he could play.
Zack pitched and did AWESOME! He was the only kid to pitch any balls that the other kids could hit off of. Now that may sound funny because usually you don't want the other team to be able to hit off you, you want them to strike out. BUT in this case he was the only kid who could pitch a good pitch, and not hit the batter or the ground in front of the plate. Yes, I am very proud mama!

We have to juggle 3 t-ball/baseball games each Saturday morning and so I didn't get to see or take pictures of Naissa but I will next week! :)
Jade added some subtle color to her hair. I agree with her teacher who said it looks great with her complexion!Thought this was funny!I think things are getting back to "Normal" around here...this was found in the freezer. I am told this used to be like one of those koosh balls....it's now shredded and frozen. One word....WHY??
